Individual Therapy
As a generalist, I work with a range of concerns including stress, life transitions, anxiety, and trauma. I also specialize in working with people who don’t necessarily have a diagnosis but just want to feel or perform better. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated for change but need support finding a path forward. I also specialize in working with students and with other helpers and health care professionals.
Many of the clients that I see have spent plenty of time “thinking through” their problems. You’ve tried problem-solving, analyzing, and applying logic, but still feel stuck. In those cases, it can be helpful to change the perspective and approach things from a different direction. This could mean looking backward at your history or context, forward towards your goals and values, or shifting away from thoughts in the present moment and instead looking towards our body or emotions for wisdom. I enjoy working with clients who are open to creatively exploring those different perspectives, as we work toward a compassionate understanding of your struggle.
Telehealth
I am currently able to see clients from anywhere within the state of Florida through telehealth. Sessions are conducted through HIPAA-compliant telehealth software. Like many of my clients, I was initially hesitant to switch to telehealth during the pandemic. However, I discovered that we were able to do the same deep and intentional work virtually. There are certainly additional challenges, however, with therapy over telehealth, including navigating technological concerns, maintaining security and privacy, and creating connection from a distance. To increase my knowledge of effective use of telehealth, I also pursued specialized training and am a Board Certified Telehealth Professional. If you have any questions or concerns about counseling over telehealth, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Walk and Talk
For interested clients in the Gainesville area, I also offer ecotherapy walk-and-talk sessions. For these sessions, we would meet at a local park or trail and walk or be in nature during the session. All of the trails or paths have benches or other places to sit as needed, and the pace and distance are up to you. Being in a natural setting allows us to blend activities around mindfulness and connection with nature with traditional talk therapy. Many clients find that incorporating movement during the session increases their comfort and helps them to work through difficult material more easily. Spaces for walk-and-talk sessions are limited and weather-dependent, so make sure to check in during your free consultation on current availability.
